Synopsis

Salvajemente libre is Noelia Sánchez Campos's debut poetry collection, structured in three movements that give each section its name: Descubrirme, Anclarme and Expandirme, followed by a short prose epilogue. The book opens with a prologue by M. Díaz, who compares reading it to a train ticket with no destination marked, and with extended acknowledgements in which the author names, one by one, the people — her mother, sister, partner, friends — who appear throughout the poems as named dedicatees.

The first section, Descubrirme, opens with «Conversando con el cosmos», a manifesto-poem about shedding imposed masks, and moves through pieces on unresolved heartbreak («El corazón como respuesta»), breaking with received expectations («Jaque mate») and the pleasure of one's own company («Cita conmigo»). It also contains the first dedicatory poems, two of them written entirely in Catalan — for Àngel and for Clara — without translation, as an inextricable part of the author's voice.

The second section, Anclarme, introduces a steadying presence — Manu, «My Darling» — and explores resilience in the face of losing control, the grace of letting go without resentment («Dejar ir»), and a shared poetic friendship with Bego, to whom the author credits the impulse that started the book. It closes with «Me anclé», where she arrives at the conclusion that no external place can replace the return to oneself.

The third section, Expandirme, returns to the title poem — a third-person portrait of a free woman, immune to discouragement — and moves toward pieces on inner coherence under external pressure, the brief love of a summer («Sibarita») and the acceptance of constant transformation as a natural condition («Me expandí»). The prose epilogue draws together the collection's central argument: that genuine discovery, grounding and expansion happen not out in the world but in the daily practice of listening to oneself and acting from one's own truth.

Written in direct, unrhymed language, with anaphora and short lines used as a kind of mantra, the collection speaks to a tradition of contemporary confessional poetry without relinquishing the literary references that the author's background in philology brings to the whole.

Salvajemente libre is the debut poetry collection of Noelia Sánchez Campos, a literature professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, published in Spanish by Luzia, the emerging-talent imprint of Durii Editorial. The book traces a three-part journey of self-discovery, self-grounding and personal expansion, told through thirty confessional, free-verse poems that move between heartbreak, female friendship, romantic partnership and hard-won self-acceptance. Three poems are written entirely in Catalan, unglossed, reflecting the author's bilingual identity and adding a distinctive regional texture rarely foregrounded in mainstream Spanish poetry. The voice is direct and accessible rather than hermetic, positioning the book alongside the international success of confessional, self-help-adjacent poetry such as Rupi Kaur's work, while retaining a literary backbone visible in its epigraphs from Keats, Woolf, Austen and Joyce. The collection closes with a short prose epilogue that crystallizes its thesis: there is nothing to discover outside oneself, only the courage to look within. With a compact format, broad emotional appeal to readers aged 20 to 45, and strong social-media quotability, Salvajemente libre offers foreign publishers a low-risk, high-relatability entry point into the growing international market for wellness-adjacent literary poetry, with potential appeal in both Spanish-language and translated editions across Latin America and Europe.

Noelia Sánchez Campos

Sabadell · 1986

Passionate about art in all its forms—painting, photography, theatre, music, dance and literature—she explores each discipline as a means of expression and of deep connection with the world. She believes in art as a force that cuts through, transforms and communicates. Noelia teaches Literature at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where she finds joy in sharing the beauty of texts with her students and is enriched by the varied readings and perspectives that emerge in every discussion. «Salvajemente libre» is her first poetry collection, an intimate reflection of that artistic and vital search.
