Synopsis
David has always been the funny one, the boy who makes everyone laugh, the perfect best friend. But behind that easy smile he carries a secret eating him alive: he is deeply in love with Carlos, his friend since childhood, the boy with the dimples and the carefree grin who would never suspect that his presence sets off silent earthquakes in David's chest.
A chance encounter brings Álvaro into his life — Carlos's cousin, newly arrived in town — and David discovers he can feel something other than the dull ache of unrequited love. A stolen kiss in the town square changes everything: Carlos sees it, and for the first time something close to jealousy crosses his face. That same night, drunk and undone, Carlos blurts out in the middle of the village festival what he has never dared to say sober.
What follows is a back-and-forth of hope and disappointment: unable to hold onto his courage in the daylight, Carlos retreats behind a girlfriend kept for appearances, leaving David with a broken heart. Then Pablo appears — a new boy at school who offers David something he has never known: steadiness without conditions, calm without drama. With Olivia, his best friend, as a constant anchor, and Álvaro becoming an unexpected ally who sets aside his own feelings for the happiness of both of them, David begins to build a life that does not depend on anyone else's approval.
But Carlos does not give up. Hidden notes, flowers delivered in class, a notebook filled with drawings and written confessions: each gesture is an attempt to show, in deeds rather than words alone, that this time he is ready to risk everything. A weekend escape to Tenerife, a brief encounter with a police officer named Alejandro, a fistfight between jealous rivals and the lies of a scorned classmate make David's path to clarity harder still.
Until, in the middle of a corridor packed with students, Carlos shouts what he can no longer keep to himself: that he is in love with David, and he does not care who hears it. A kiss in front of the whole school seals what both of them had been denying for months. «Entre tú y yo: te quiero» is a novel about the weight of hiding, the courage it takes to love out loud, and the certainty that sometimes the most important love we have to learn to give is the one we owe ourselves.

«Entre tú y yo: te quiero» is a Spanish-language YA/new adult gay romance following David, a closeted teenager secretly in love with his lifelong best friend Carlos. When David unexpectedly kisses Carlos's cousin Álvaro, jealousy exposes feelings neither boy dared name. What follows is an emotionally charged coming-out journey involving four different romantic interests, a drunken public confession, a hallway declaration witnessed by an entire school, and an unshakeable best-friendship that anchors the story throughout. Written by a debut author who is also a nationally recognized singer, actor and dancer, the novel channels an authentic, unfiltered voice on queer adolescence in small-town Spain. With short, addictive chapters reminiscent of serialized romance fiction and a highly shareable public-declaration climax, the book has strong crossover potential for readers of Heartstopper and Red, White & Royal Blue. Rights are available for translation into all territories; the book's episodic structure and visual, cinematic set pieces also make it a strong candidate for streaming adaptation.
