Palaciegos

Synopsis
Gaby Piqué sees himself as a journalist past his prime. After years away from the profession, ground down by addiction, he is put on the trail of one of the biggest corruption cases in the history of Palaciegos, a small city south of the capital, worn out by neglect and indifference. There was a time when Piqué ran an influential local weekly and shone in the city. Now all he wants is to leave it behind, because he can no longer find a reason to stay.
Palaciegos is a genre novel charged with sharp political and social criticism, built around a plot that is very hard to step away from. In his second novel, Valbuena has brought together a cast of characters instantly recognisable from contemporary life. The hunger for power, greed, speculation, love, jealousy and a commitment to a kind of journalism already on the verge of extinction all converge in these pages.
